Silver Rights Movement Rough Cut

On December 11th, I showed a few clips of The Silver Rights Movement to a small audience at Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies. The audience included teachers, Durham city members, Duke Administrators and former students.

From the feedback, I can tell there’s still a good amount of work to be done, but I get the sense that the film is moving from being a strictly historical piece to one that is more thematic.

I was really happy to show a longer cut of the film to everyone and get feedback.

Plan is to take these comments, re-edit and have something finished by the end of the New Year…

Mary Lou Williams, Silver Rights, Face-Up and film school

Right now, I’m working on one feature-length doc, and two short documentaries. I start film school at the University of Southern California in January. So I’m working to finish things up before then.

Please continue to check out this website for updates.

Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture Celebrates 25 Years

Sneak Preview:

or also watch it on YouTube.

So I’m in the process of making a 30-minute documentary for the Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture at Duke University. The doc should be done in Spring of 2009, but here’s a little segment that was shown last week at the 25th Anniversary of the center.
